Friendship Walk to benefit Best Buddies draws more than 2,000

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More than 2,000 people participated in the Best Buddies Indiana Friendship Walk Sunday in Indianapolis.

The annual Friendship Walk raises funds and awareness for Best Buddies, an organization that aims to improve the quality of life for those with special needs. This was the ninth year for the event, which kicked off at 10 a.m.

The starting line for both the 5K competitive race and the non-competitive fitness walk was held at the NCAA Hall of Champions. Racers crossed the finish line at Military Park.

Best Buddies works with dozens of schools and communities across Indiana to provide mentoring and friendship to people with special needs.
