Greenwood police: Officer shoots armed man after chase, crash
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Greenwood police said an officer shot an armed man following a chase and multiple-vehicle crash on the far south side of Indianapolis Monday evening.
Police said an officer tried to pull over a vehicle at Fairview Road and State Road 135 around 6:15 p.m. when it fled.
After a pursuit lasting about two minutes, the car crashed at East Stop 11 Road and Shelby Street, and the driver got out and pointed a gun at the pursuing officer, according to Greenwood police. The officer shot the man, identified as 36-year-old Paul James Kinnaman, in the buttocks and he was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, according to police.

Two passengers in the man’s car and two people in two other vehicles were taken to the hospital. None of the injuries are life threatening, according to police.
A total of five vehicles were damaged in the crash.
The officer fired multiple shots during the encounter and has been placed on administrative leave, according to police.
