IDEM fines company for alleged improper medical waste disposal
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana Department Of Environmental Management has fined MedAssure of Indiana more than $11,000 for accepting medical waste it was not permitted to accept.
An investigation found between September 2012 and January 2016 that some of that medical waste may have contained fetal remains that would have come from Pathology Services, Inc. a Missouri company.
Indiana Right to Life used the news of the fine to shine a light on a House Bill now before the Indiana Senate which requires humane disposal of aborted fetuses by cremation or burial.
The Indiana House has already passed the legislation.
