IMPD: Man finds mother dead in home
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her south side home Friday afternoon.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, they received a call about a deceased woman in her residence in the 1000 block of East Edwards Avenue.
Officers were called to the scene just after 3:45 p.m. After arriving on scene, officers discovered 51-year-old Mary Matzke suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was soon pronounced dead by EMS at the scene.
Police said the victim’s son had received a phone call from a relative about that Mary Matzke’s husband, 52-year-old Mark Matzke. had attempted suicide outside a residence in Millington, Michigan. It was at that time victim’s son went to the residence on East Edwards Avenue and discovered Mary Matzke shot inside the house.
Homicide detectives believe Mark Matzke shot and killed his wife sometime early Friday, July 1 and then fled to Michigan.
Mark Matzke remains in critical condition in a Flint, Michigan hospital. He is not expected to survive.
