Education providers team up to expand workforce
JASPER, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Jasper-based GradGrid and Indianapolis-based Eleven Fifty Academy are partnering to bolster the tech talent in southern Indiana. The nonprofit coding academy says the effort is part of a strategic focus to help build and retain the talent needed to support the region’s base and its growing technical workforce.
“In our region there is a surge in cybersecurity initiatives and opportunities,” said Jeff Quyle, president and chief executive officer of Radius Indiana. “We know that the demand for highly-skilled workers will continue to increase. We are pleased to see the region rally around Eleven Fifty as a vital training tool to develop the workforce for our area.”
Eleven Fifty Academy offers courses in data science, web and application development, and cybersecurity. There are free intro courses available and all courses are available virtually.
GradGrid, which is based at Jasper High School, says it is the region’s first-ever hometown professional network and aims to help hometown natives by accelerating career growth, reconnecting with classmates, and supporting relocation.
“Our mission is to empower hometowns by connecting natives with one another, their alma mater, and local industry. We started in Jasper and are currently in the process of expanding to all of Dubois County,” says GradGrid co-founder Luke Hochgesang. “Our strategy binds local connectivity between hometown natives and area employers. We are working to maximize talent opportunities in Jasper and are excited to team up with Eleven Fifty Academy.”
