INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indiana Department of Insurance Commissioner Stephen Robertson is stepping down from his post, a position he has held since 2010.

According to the governor’s office, Robertson is the longest-serving commissioner for the department. He will leave June 1.

“His expertise in the insurance industry has protected Hoosiers during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives,” said Governor Eric Holcomb.

The agency regulates insurance companies operating in Indiana. It also researches, investigates, and resolves individual consumer complaints against insurance companies, agents and brokers.

Robertson was first appointed commission by Governor Mitch Daniels in 2010, reappointed by Governor Mike Pence in 2013 and reappointed a second time by Holcomb.

Robertson’s insurance career began with the Nebraska Department of Insurance in 1977 where he served as general counsel.
