Johnson County vehicle break-ins continue, despite arrests

GREENWOOD,Ind. (WISH) – Despite recent arrests police in Johnson County say a string of break-ins continue. Officers in Greenwood are looking into at least seven more cases just this week.

At least three of those seven break-ins reported since Tuesday happened in a Greenwood neighborhood along Padre Lane. Previously, police said those responsible were mostly targeting unlocked vehicles, but in the recent cases, the culprits are now breaking car windows or damaging the vehicle in other ways to get inside.

Also this week, a company vehicle at Angie’s Pool and Spa was broken into and tools were stolen. Then a patron at Chicago’s Pizza on U.S. 31 reported to police that their vehicle’s window was broken and a laptop was stolen Tuesday night and two cars at Greenwood’s new water park, Freedom Springs, were broken into as well.

Johnson County break-ins suspects

This comes after the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported arrests connected to vehicle break-ins earlier this month. Trever Ellis and Stefan Macy, both of Greenwood, were arrested. Detectives said after talking to them, they know more people were involved in the break-ins. They did release these surveillance photos that allegedly show Ellis, Macy, and another person. They’re trying to figure out who the third person is. If you know anything about that person, you’re asked to call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Several teens have also been arrested this month, still the break-ins continue.

Police say it’s important to lock your vehicle and not to leave any valuable items inside.
