Pet Pals TV: First downtown dog park coming to Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Each and every week Pet Pals TV shares a fun, interesting and informative story about our four-legged and furry friend population.

Pet Pals TV host Patty Spitler stopped by the Daybreak studios with Erica Ballard to make a big announcement: the first downtown dog park in Indianapolis is about to open.

“When I moved downtown from Boston I just assumed that there would be a dog park in Indianapolis, and there wasn’t,” said Erica Ballard, who is the founder of Indy Dog Park.

Ballard said her dog needed a dog park because of his high energy, so she started her mission of bringing one downtown. Ballard has worked on the effort for a stand-alone dog park for three years.

The new dog park is on Prospect Street near East Street in downtown Indy and is slated to open on Oct. 17.
