Man in custody after two people shot in Brown County

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Two people were shot Tuesday afternoon on Lucas Hollow Road in eastern Brown County according to 24-Hour News 8’s news gathering partners at the Brown County Democrat.

Authorities received a 9-1-1 call around 4:15 p.m. from one of the victims, who told a dispatcher that she had been shot and that the man who shot her was walking down the street.

30-year-old Joshua Asher was arrested without incident and faces and numerous charges, including two counts of attempted murder.

Both victims were transported to the hospital and are reported in stable condition.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, one of the victims was Asher’s estranged girlfriend. Asher was served a protective order Monday, the night before the alleged shooting.

Details of what happened were not immediately available, although Brown County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Greg Pittman noted that the incident may be related to previous calls for help from the same address.
