Mass Ave. businesses prepare for Small Business Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The day after Thanksgiving may be Black Friday, but Saturday is dedicated to small businesses and business owners along Mass Avenue in Indianapolis are already getting prepared.

Locally owned businesses hope to cash on Small Business Saturday, the day dedicated to encourage people to shop local and support small businesses.

The day was started by American Express in 2010 to recognize the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday.

Mass Avenue launched Small Business Saturday in 2013. This year 26 businesses along the strip will participate in the day.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, those businesses will open and give away  “Mass Avenue Swag Bags” to the first 10 shoppers.

Santa will arrive on a firetruck at 2 p.m. outside the Indianapolis Firefighters Museum.

More on the event can be found here.
