Monday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

Dog bite insurance

Dog bite claims are falling but Indiana is still a top 10 state for insurance claims related to dog bites.

That’s according to State Farm.

The cost to the insurance company was $4.8 million, roughly $27,000 per claim, up from $23,000 in 2017.

According to the CDC, there are about 47 million dog bites every year in the U.S.

Screen time

Parents of teenagers who love their devices can cut themselves some slack.

While about two-thirds of parents in a recent Pew survey say that they are concerned about their teens spending too much time in front of screens, new research from the University of Oxford assures that screen time – even before bed- has little impact on teen well-being.

Target

On April 22 through May 4, Target stores will accept and recycle car seats.

That includes infant seats, convertible seats and booster seats.

In exchange for the old car seat, customers will get a coupon for 20% off a new one.

Agribusiness

Big agribusiness groups suggest policy proposals that would break them up are detached from reality and say what’s needed is a focus on growing U.S. exports, not adding regulations.

Democrat presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has suggested breaking up the big ag companies, saying they hurt small farmers.

The National Farmers Union, a group representing farm families, sides with Warren.
