No injuries after school bus catches fire in Bartholomew County

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — It was a terrifying sight Friday morning in Bartholomew County after a school bus caught fire.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 550 West and 550 South around 6:20 a.m. to reports of a school bus on fire.

When deputies arrived they found the bus fully engulfed in flames.

Two students and the driver were able to get off the bus in time. They were not injured.

It is unclear what caused the fire at this time but authorities are investigating.

“I am glad that BCSO deputies, as well as other public safety officials, arrived quickly and I am extremely happy that no one was injured”, said Sheriff Matthew A. Myers in a statement online.
