NY may allow pets to be buried with people
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A recently passed bill in the New York State Senate could allow pets to buried with people – or people to be buried with pets.
The bill would would allow non-religious cemeteries to allow people the option of being buried with cremated remains of a dog, cat, or any other domesticated animal. If the bill becomes reality, the burials would be required to happen at the same time. Supporters expect many pet owners will embrace it.
Sue Campbell of Buffalo, supports the idea, she said, “Our animals are our world, and people go to great lengths to keep them healthy for as long as possible, and animals are living longer than they used to, and people are very very attached to their pets. so I think it will be a wonderful thing.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo still has to sign the bill for it to become law. The bill would not require or force any cemetery to allow pets.
