Pacers, Colts working to raise money for community centers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Every day there are more confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more deaths related to the virus in the Hoosier state.

That’s why the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers are teaming up to raise money for Indianapolis community centers.

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that the goal is to raise $200,000 for 12 community centers.

If the money is raised by Thursday, the Pacers and Colts will add another $420,000.

Steve Campbell, vice president of communications for the Colts, and Danny Lopez, the Pacers vice president of corporate communications, were on Daybreak Wednesday to discuss their effort.

They discussed why community centers are so important and why both organizations decided to team up.

Additionally, both teams will be apart of WISH-TV’s “Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers” fundraiser with several items for people to bid on.
