Person dead after shooting on city’s northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person died Thursday night after a shooting on the city’s northwest side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 9:47 p.m. to the intersection of West 47th Street and Georgetown Road on a report of a person shot.

They arrived to find a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. That person was initially in critical condition but was later pronounced dead, police said by email.

No information about the exact location of the shooting, the gender, age or identity of the victim or the circumstances of the shooting were immediately available.
