Police locate stolen unmarked IMPD car, 2 suspects arrested
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An unmarked IMPD car that was stolen from a home early Thursday morning has been located.
The vehicle was stolen from an officer’s driveway around 6 a.m. The car is a blue Ford Fusion with tinted windows. Police said the vehicle did not have the officer’s weapon inside.
According to police, two suspects were arrested Thursday afternoon. IMPD reported to a burglary in the 4200 block of Newburgh Drive.
Once on the scene, police were in a short foot chase with two teens. Once caught, officers found a gun and a set of car keys belonging to the stolen Ford Fusion.
According to police reports, two other cars were vandalized in the area. One report stated that a passenger window was busted out of a car in the 10000 block of Stoney Creek Court. The second vandalism report happened in the 700 block of Midnight Court, where a vehicle had the driver side window smashed in.
It’s not clear if anything was taken from the two vehicles. Investigators said a total of five others cars were broken into, and two were stolen including the Ford Fusion and a pick-up truck.
Police are trying to determine if the 17-year-old, and 19-year-old suspect are tied to any other crimes.
