Purdue University official seeking raises for faculty

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – A Purdue University official is requesting raises for the school’s faculty.

Purdue University Senate Chairwoman Patricia Hart says faculty members have received less than a six percent raise over the past five years.

She says that’s the second smallest amount compared to other Big Ten schools.

Harts says the university would have to implement four to five percent raises over each of the next two years to put Purdue faculty back in the middle of the pack.

She tells WLFI-TV http://wlfi.com/ that her request is part of an ongoing conversation with the university’s trustees and President Mitch Daniels.

Hart also has asked the university to be more transparent as it re-evaluates its leaves policy.
