Team Smile teams up with Pacers for dental charity event

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Hundreds of Indianapolis children now have a healthier smile thanks to an event held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Tuesday.

The Indiana Pacers teamed up with Team Smile to provide free dental work for kids from local shelters as well as the Boys and Girls Club.

Organizers said that many of the families at Tuesday’s event don’t have access to a dentist, so this is a fun way to get them the care they need.

“They are all so sweet. They are so appreciative,” said Nicole Van Le, DDS. “And you can just see the excitement in their eyes because they’re not used to being able to come to a venue like this and have all this attention given to them.”

All the kids were sent home with a new toothbrush. They also participated in bullying prevention and fire safety activities.
