The unique mixture of jazz and art collides this Sunday
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Some of the city’s best artists and musicians will join forces to showcase their talents for a good cause. Jazz on Canvas will feature Indy’s best composers, performers, and visual artists.
The popular event acts as fundraiser to promote Indy’s Jazz legacy and fund educational programs. For $125, supporters will receive complementary wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres as they tour through the art and photographs prominently displayed.
During the musical performances the audience will be served dessert.
24 Hour News 8, has learned that 50% of the proceeds raised will be donated to Indy Jazz Fest to help community projects. Supporters can write off $50 of their ticket on their taxes.
In addition to the performances and art, the artists will stick around to give insight on their creative process.
Rob Dixon, a musician, and Rita Spalding, an artist, collaborated together to create a musical interpretation of art.
Dixon told us why he had to worker a little faster this year.
“We had less time this year because we made a cd, we had a week in and half to put everything together,” said Dixon.
